Ballet – let’s talk about it! — Ballet appreciation — Markham, Scarborough, Toronto, Vaughan
Hands-on ballet-appreciation programs for children. The idea is to create an opportunity for exploring ballet in a way not ordinarily available within the standard dance-studio experience. The programs run between 45-60min (some have a themed craft component that extends the duration of the activity) and combine watching short ballet video clips, introducing the plot of a narrative ballet, trying out ballet steps and choreography, trying on ballet costumes and more. Program topics and themes have included: Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker and The Origins of Ballet. Most programs can be adapted to suit different age groups, and you can inquire about tailoring a program to a topic or theme that you are interested in exploring.

Canadian institute devoted exclusively to songwriting, led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Murray Foster, best known for his work in two Canadian bands: Moxy Früvous and Great Big Sea.
The Young Songwriters Class is available for students age 10-16. It is a class for young people with or without any musical training. Students gain exposure to songs from the past fifty years through listening and sing-alongs. They learn the basics of lyric-writing, melody and chords. Several songs are written with the entire group and one song is written individually with help of the instructor. It is presented to the class and a version is recorded to take home.
